The health benefits of cycling as well as alternatives to automotive transport were promoted in a bike ride yesterday that saw 200 cyclists converge in St George’s Square, Valletta.

They left from Marsascala and Ta’ Qali, joining up at Floriana and riding into the capital together.

The event, organised by the NGO Inspire and supported by the Environment Parliamentary Secretariat, was timed to coincide with car-free day last Wednesday, pushing the healthy lifestyle that comes hand in hand with the sport. It was held in collaboration with Kunsill Malti għall-iSport and the Malta Cycling Federation.
