An Iraqi man was yesterday charged with attempting to murder a Somali man in Marsascala.

Moqmen Abdu Isshaki, 35, who resides in Ħal Far, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Gaser Salman Darman on Saturday in Mifsud Bonnici Square.

Mr Issaki also pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Mr Darman and being in possession of a knife without a police licence and with breaching the peace.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke turned down a call for bail and remanded him in custody.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted.
