Singer Thea Garrett recently met residents of the Marsa Open Centre and officially inaugurated one of the newly refurbished rooms, now known as the ‘My Dream’ residence. The visit was part of an event marking the end of a five-year management agreement between Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem and the government. The centre is now run by the newly set up Foundation for Shelter and Support to Migrants.
During the day, 23 participants from 14 EU states – all involved in education in detention centres and prisions – visited the centre as guests of the Malta branch of the European Prison Education Association.
