Chris Farrugia (pictured) of Victoria won the greasy pole competition held every year in Xlendi Bay on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The game was contested by Steve Xuereb (last year’s winner), Jurgen Attard, Chris Farrugia, Renzo Galea, Chris Xuereb and Lawrence Mercieca. Swimming, boat and canoe races were also held. Trophies were presented by Xlendi church rector Canon Giovanni Cremona, Peter Lovewell, who sponsored the trophies, and Louis Attard, director of Xlendi Pleasure Cruises, who provided the canoes and paddle boats.
