Citadel makes CSR a priority
Elaine Saliba and Roderick Falzon, members of Citadel’s CSR team, presenting the company donation to Anġlu Fenech, of Caritas Malta.
A group of Citadel employees recently teamed up to form the company’s first corporate social responsibility team. The initiative has helped instill awareness of the challenges of the local community, thereby generating more participation in such events.
A CSR programme was created to provide staff members with various opportunities to participate in projects aimed at supporting the local community and sustaining the environment.
The company has opted to help various entities, including charitable institutions and individuals in need of support. The company also donated money to two entities.
It supported Edward Aquilina, who swam between Malta and Gozo in aid of Caritas Malta, and raised money in aid of Equal Partners Foundation’s ‘Stepping out programme’, which helps autistic children gain confidence and become more independent. The donation will partly finance
the cost of the programme for a 14-year old autistic girl.

One hopes that these organisations like the banks now adopt the CSR standard ISO 26000. This standard just published is already picking up in many countries and it is the only proof of moving from lip service as is the case with big corporations such as banks to fact. You can purchase a copy of the standard from your national standard body.
