A few days ago, I decided to go and watch a film at the Eden Cinema Complex and chose the 6 p.m. show. I parked in the cinema car park, proceeded to buy the tickets and inside the cinema saw a notice proclaiming a “maximum charge of €2.50 on presentation of the cinema ticket”.

After the film was over I proceeded to an eatery across the road.

I later walked to the car park office to pay my parking fee and presented my cinema ticket.

I was then informed that this offer does not apply on a public holiday and was asked for a whopping €8.90.

I obviously expressed my utter disgust at this rip-off in no uncertain manner with the car park staff.

One spends around €20 to watch a film, plus the usual drinks and then is faced with an unreasonable bill for parking fees. I have the bills to prove it.

I wonder if there exists a regulator for car park operations, whether private or not. This daylight and night-time robbery should be addressed sooner rather than later.

Punters beware because they will be fleeced.
