Fake VRT certificates
A 60-year-old man was conditionally discharged for two years after he pleaded guilty to ordering people to issue fake VRT certificates for cars that were not even tested.
Carmel Chircop, of Msida, pleaded not guilty.
Information on the case is scant, however, police sources said Mr Chircop did not actually own a VRT station but would ask employees at different outlets to issue a certificate without the vehicle being tested. The offences were committed on and before October 13 last year.
No mention was made on how many fake certificates had been issued or how many cars were certified without undergoing the test.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke conditionally discharged Mr Chircop for two years after taking note of the fact that he admitted to the charges early in the proceedings and that he had a clean police record.

Although he had a clean Police record, he obviously had a lot of influence with some VRT garages and has contributed in no small way to UNTESTED vechiles being driven on our roads illegally!
