Former Prime Minister and Labour leader Dom Mintoff’s condition continued to improve and he was expected to be released from intensive care in the next 24 hours, the Labour Party said yesterday.
Mr Mintoff was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital in a confused state after being found on the roof of his Tarxien home last Thursday. A CT scan confirmed he suffered a light stroke and was kept in intensive care and treated for suspected pneumonia.
His condition improved over the last few days and Labour Leader Joseph Muscat visited him yesterday. Dr Muscat said he had a long conversation with Mr Mintoff. He said Mr Mintoff would continue receiving medical care in hospital. The medical team, he added, insisted Mr Mintoff needed a lot of rest to recover completely.
