Former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff is expected to be taken out of the intensive therapy unit at Mater Dei Hospital in the next 24 hours, although he is expected to continue to receive hospital treatment, Labour leader Joseph Muscat said today.

Dr Muscat visited the former Labour leader, 94, this morning and was able to have a discussion with him.

It was the third time that Dr Muscat had visited Mr Mintoff after he was hospitalised following a mild stroke last Thursday.

Dr Muscat made his comments after he laid flowers on the Independence Monument in Floriana.

The PL is inviting people to submit messages to Mr Mintoff on mlp.org.mt
