Dzhorov issues apology

Floriana midfielder Kiril Dzhorov yesterday apologised for his goal celebration during the 2-0 win over Birkirkara on Saturday.

The Bulgarian caused controversy after he elected to celebrate his last-gasp goal in front of the Stripes fans.

“Following the incident in the dying minutes of the match between Birkirkara and Floriana on Saturday, I would like to apologise for my ac-tions,” Dzhorov said in a statement.

“I was tense throughout the match, since I wanted to help my club obtain maximum points and in a rush decision, I celebrated my goal in front of the Birkirkara fans.

“I’m aware that this was a mistake and would like to apologise.

“I hope that all the Birkirkara fans, players and club committee members accept my apologies.”
