Albert Buttigieg was recently appointed chief executive officer of the Housing Authority.

Dr Buttigieg comes from a social, religious and educational background. As a former Capuchin priest, he was for several years responsible for working with children, young people, senior citizens, prison inmates and families locally and abroad.

In 2001 he was awarded ‘Gieħ San Ġwann’ as an appreciation for his service to the local community. For some years, he was a secondary school teacher, was involved at Fondazzjoni Suriet il-Bniedem and was also a visiting lecturer at Mcast and the University of Malta.

From 2001, Dr Buttigieg was a member of the management team at Sedqa within the Foundation for Social Services, responsible for the management of primary prevention services. He co-ordinated various educational prevention programmes and drew up a number of publications.

Dr Buttigieg graduated in Philo­sophy and Theology from I.N.S.E.R.M and furthered his studies at the UPS University in Rome, where he obtained his Baccalaureate in education and then continued his Master’s in the same discipline.
