Drug find lands party-goers behind bars
Six men have been arrested after they were found in possession of drugs last night.
The police said the men, aged between 18 and 26 and hailing from Qala, Fgura, Santa Lucija, Ta' Xbiex and Qormi, were arrested during a party at Ta' Qali.
The drugs included ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis resin.

Thank god the police saved us from 6 people who where ... partying? thanks guys in blues for arresting... what? Unemployed people maybe? Murderes? Rapists? Apart from the drug they took themselves what exactly did they do wrong? As Jimmy magro there is no need for drugs and alcohol to party... but alcohol is legal and drugs are not. You drink and party and thats ok... you take drugs and party and the difference is what? that one is legal and the other is not? The government makes taxes ad money out of one and the drug lords and the organised crimes make the money out of the other? Congrats to the police for removing 6 part goers from the streets. Id have been happier if someone caught throwing a washing machine at sea was caught.

It's always interesting to read how drugs apologists seem to imply that ecstasy, cocaine and contemporary cannabis with its high levels of THC, would not be considered dangerous, or hard drugs, or addicting.

Well said Chris.....as we see from movies we all have a hint who the big fish might be.
Well done to the Police for catching anyone related with this crime whether big or small fish, and I do hope you find more support from our courts by being more severe with drug realted crimes....Not suspended sentences.

The rotten modern society. A modern society must be healthy and these kids must learn that in order to have a good time there is no need for drugs and alcohol. All these are the creation of people that only know how to exploit members of society for their own empire building. On the other hand it is we the taxpayers that have to pay for the police force that has to intervene every weekend to clean the act of these exploiters and victims.

your argument in support of the war on drugs are only derived from a morality perspective, which in cases like these, don't make any sense! prohibition is solving nothing in regards to the rotten modern society, on the contrary. prohibition only helps makes more fashionable the drug. alcohol consumption in the 30s during prohibition in America never actually helped to keep consumption down, far from it, beside the fact that it only helped gangsters control the lucrative market! the problem of drugs can only be solved when we decide to leave the individual free to do whatever he wants with his body and money, but it's then the same individual who should bear the responsibility for his stupid actions!

@ASpiteri, I think Jimmy Magro write up is from the heart. My experience is that this whole drama is just too big, I can vouch for the Rabat police whose sterling work is dangerous and non rewarding especially now that more disco outlets are in the pipe line in these areas of course it equal profit ONLY to the organizers. What is the use complaining as it seem the political parties keep silent. What I agree with you is if these youngsters buy drugs at exorbitant prices, the government should make these drugs available at a discount, right away one illegal racket will go bust and the system will pay for the police protection.

Well done officers; another few small fry to be thrown out on probabtion once their case comes to court. But what about the big boys behind it all. You/we have seen this drug problem growing and has now reached major proportions. I do not recall reading in any of the newspapers that some major 'baron' has been picked up (correct me if I'm wrong). Is it possible that all this drug use/abuse is the subject of petty criminals importing it? Where do they import from? Who pays for the bulk buying? This is what our uniformed friends should be looking into. All the same you still have my congratulations. What a pity that the courts do not back you up by sentencing these hapless creatures to terms of community work etc. Jail is of no consequence and having to pay a fine is beyond the means of most of these small fry.
