These are sad times we live in when a doctor has to be branded “brave” for diagnosing Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.
The ones who have to be brave are the patients, because there may be some who misunderstand ME and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the may find difficulty obtaining disability benefits if the disease (about 25 per cent of ME patients lose the capacity to work and do many other normal things in life), and also disbelief from friends and family when they do not get well in a timely fashion.
