RMGC players back from Copenhagen clinic

The four highest scorers of the Tommy Hilfiger tournament at the Royal Malta Golf Club (RMGC) have just returned from Copenhagen where they took part in a golfing clinic with pro player Nick Dougherty.

Speaking on their return, Jonathan Shaw, managing director of Tommy Hilfiger in Malta, said: “Golf and Tommy Hilfiger are closely associated and we try to follow through on the brand’s image overseas by supporting local events and players.”

The four winners, Maria Woodward, Debbie Jackson, Frans Busuttil and Quint Van Beek spent four days touring the city, playing on the renowned Simon’s Golf Course and, of course, relishing time spent with Dougherty.

The trip was hugely successful.

“I enter numerous competitions but the Tommy Hilfiger tournament is particularly good because the sponsors make sure the competition is really memorable for everyone that competes,” Jackson, runner-up in the women’s category, said.

With regards to the trip, all four were thrilled to have had the opportunity to meet Dougherty.

“He gave us a demonstration on how to correct common amateur mistakes. He also showed us how to chip and play percentage shots around the green,” Woodward, who won the Tommy Hilfiger women’s title, explained.

“It was all very instructive and entertaining, and it was very nice to chat to him. I was very pleased with the insight that he was able to offer; it was a real experience.”
