I agree totally with everything Lino Busuttil wrote on the subject of swimming pool licences (August 28). I too have received a letter from the Malta Resources Authority which threatens to take legal action.

I too am perplexed about why I should pay a licence fee for usage of my private pool, on my property, when I don’t earn an income from it. I cannot understand why the fee has recently been doubled.

I purposely built a large well to collect rainwater which our good Lord sends for free.

I make good use of this instead of throwing it down the drain. When I applied for my permit there was no mention of any licence. I hope the Malta Resour­ces Authority will provide valid reasons and answers and I hope all pool owners will speak up.
