Everton manager David Moyes was fined 8,000 pounds (€9,558) by the Football Association (FA) yesterday after admitting a misconduct charge.

Moyes and assistant Steve Round both faced punishment for their behaviour towards referee Martin Atkinson at the full-time whistle in Everton’s extraordinary 3-3 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

The Merseysiders had trailed 3-1 heading into injury time at Goodison Park, but late goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta levelled the scores and ensured a share of the points.

But Everton were furious when Atkinson blew for full-time with Everton’s Phil Jagielka bearing down on goal in the dying seconds.

Moyes walked on to the pitch to speak to remonstrate with the referee.

The Everton manager indicated he would plead guilty to the charge but Round has submitted a plea in mitigation against the fine, which will be heard by a regulatory commission hearing on Monday.
