Gozitans will be saved the trouble of having to travel to Mater Dei Hospital for mammograms, ultrasounds and X-rays thanks to new equipment that arrived at the Gozo General Hospital earlier this week.
In the coming weeks, CT scan and fluoroscopy machines are also expected to arrive as part of the Gozo hospital’s Radiology Unit restructuring. The project is 85 per cent financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the 2007-2013 cohesion policy.
The gardens of Villa Rundle in Victoria will also benefit financially from the same EU source in connection with a €2.5 million overhaul that will include a children’s play area being added along with a stage for cultural events, a visitor’s centre and other upgrades.
