Kinnie goes on sale in London
Kinnie, Malta's best known soft drink, has gone on sale on trial basis in almost 100 outlets in London's West End.
A spokesman for Farsons said that Kinnie was soft launched this summer in the UK capital and so far the reaction from the trade and consumers alike was encouraging.
This is the first time that Kinnie and its sister brands Diet Kinnie and Kinnie Zest, are being sold directly to consumers in London.
The launch of Kinnie in the UK is being implemented in partnership with Kinnie UK Ltd, a company owned by Messrs Anthony and Richard Traviss, well established restaurateurs, pub and club owners in London.
Michael Farrugia, Business Development Manager who is responsible for the project said that the introduction of Kinnie into a highly competitive market presented a significant challenge.
"We're competing against internationally renowned brands which dominate the market so our launch strategy is essentially a focused niche-based regional one, concentrated within London's west end. Kinnie is being presented as an alternative soft drink that offers young adults positive taste and refreshment. So far, Kinnie has been well received and if the indicators are right we'll gradually intensify our efforts within London over the next 18 months with the longer term view of widening our distribution and penetration into other geographic areas in the UK. It's a tough challenge though we are cautiously optimistic."

Just back from holiday in Malta and looked up Kinnie for availability in UK. So glad to see it is being sold in London But how about some in Chemsford or through some of the big food stores as it is a long drive from here to London. Will go for some Kinnie though - love it!!

What took you so long Mr. Kinnie?
This has made my day, nay! my week.
In this alone if nothing else, Malta has been ahead of the times. I mean, that slightly bitter taste, it is sooooooo 2010.
When is a Jubilee Bar selling Kinnie and Pastizzi opening in London? The capital is awash with 'arcade' outlets selling Cornish, and Mexican, and whatever else delicious, scrumptious 'rubbish'. Pastizzi and imqaret will hold their own at least. And a Kinnie please. Is this too much to ask for us exiles? Malta is in the EU. This should be easy. Please. And don't forget the Cisk. We get Polish beer, and Czech, and Japanese. And we'd get Afghani beer too if they made it. So why not Cisk and Farsons Blue Label? Why not indeed.
Let's put Malta on the Internation culinary map (no Maltese restaurants in London as far as I know. Shame!!). Any more good news (especially about Mr. Kinnie), please contact me on:

Come on! don't be shy.

A few years ago one could buy kinnie in Sweden. But it did not last so long i am sorry to say. So i have to wait until i go to Malta to enjoy it there as it has always been my favourite drink since i was little. Any body knows the recipe ? (ha ha ) thank you farsons.

My most sincere congratulations to Farsons in this venture.
And yes, Maltese products like Kinnie and Twistees should be exported around the whole world.
What happened to Snax?
The snacks themselves were delicious...and oh how I miss those large bagged toys and cartoon character figures I used to find inside!
Superman, Batman, Speedy Gonzales...the list was endless.
And in different colours!
Which made them highly collectible items!
Bring back the 70s and 80s please!
Who said that under Mintoff's rule life was boring?
We were in paradise back then, but unfortunately some didn't even know it!

I appeal to Farsons to ensure that Kinnie is served right. It should be ice cold and served with a slice of orange and not luke warm with no gas.

Can someone tell me where I can find it? Cause the website isnt working =((

I wish the Farsons Group the best of luck on their future endeavours. This shows that local products can hold their own, even abroad. As long as the product is genuine and pricing is kept in check, with no cutting of corners, local products are as good (even better may I say) then foreign ones.
One fine example...the other day, instead of purchasing locally produced veg to make a salad, I decided to opt for a foreign ready cut and produced mixed fresh salad in a 500g pkg. Looked nice, fresh and crispy I must say, and saved a couple of euros, however the salad was completely tasteless...
Certain local products come to mind, such as real olive oil, wine and honey.. where I am afraid to say that although the products are good, the pricing is abnormally high compared to some Italian products.

Here, in central London, I haven't been able to find KINNIE in any restaurants or bars. It's my favourite soft drink. Since leaving Malta, I really miss it - also TWISTEES and CISK - all great Maltese products. Please start exporting these. Catherine Leuz

Great news that at long last Kinnie is available in Great Britain (London) so could we now have it supplied over here on the Isle of Man as it is costing me a fortune to spend four months of each year holidaying in Malta to satisfy my addiction to Kinnie. An incredible drink, especially from bottles. In three weeks I shall be back again, so step up production!

Elaine and I are another two potential customers for Kinnie on the Isle of Man. All the people who I've introduced to Kinnie absolutely love it. I hope the UK market takes off for Farsons and that we see Kinnie here soon.

Last week I was teasing my granddaughter who is five on Monday over Skype. She lives in Leicester. I asked her whether she was having Kinnie, which she loves when she's on holiday here. "Oh we don't have it here !"
I sincerely wish good luck to Farsons in this venture.
But what about making it available also in family bottles and sold in supermarkets ?
And not only in London, please.

We get Kinnie in Western Sydney but in small plastic bottles which loose the gas very quick.I would love to get the drink in Alum cans again. Glass bottles are no good as they explode in the refrigirator. We had a mess last week.
If Farsons are following this, can they please give us back our fiz Kinnie in Australia using alum cans ?

Great news and everything and good luck to the promoters, I believe the product is up to the standard required to compete in a foreign market.
However, going through the UK website and Facebook page, I noticed that the imagery used for the promotion depicts glass bottles. So why has this type of bottle vanished from the loal market with all the environment implications this brought?

BRILLIANT well done farsons now i dont have to go with my suitcases and hand luggage full up with kinnie each time i go to see the kids and grandchildren, it was getting to the point that after introducing kinnie to their freinds in the uk they rarely got any left for themselves, we spent 34yrs in the UK and twice a year going back for holidays since retiring we have had to make the kinnie trek, now they can get it them selves thank god

I am 63 years old and have always enjoyed Kinnie since its inception!
Nothing compares to the flavour: not too bitter not too sweet.
I can safely say it is one of the most successful product wholly produced in Malta.

It's about time this was tried out on the British market. I always liked to introduce this to British holidaymakers as our national soft drink when I was a representative and they used to get hooked on it for the rest of their holiday. Its a great alternative to cola and brilliant for people who don't like alcohol. Good luck with the campaign!
