I refer to Carmen Caruana’s letter Milk Subject To VAT? (September 2).

The reply to Ms Caruana’s query is no, milk is a foodstuff and therefore is VAT exempt. If the shop in question has charged VAT on the semi-skimmed milk purchased it should not have done so.
