Penélope Cruz is four months pregnant – agent

Penélope Cruz is four-and-a-half months pregnant with her first child, her agent said.

Rumours about the 36-year-old Spanish actress’s pregnancy have been circulating since she married Spanish actor Javier Bardem, 41, in July at an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas.

The couple first got to know each other during the filming of Bigas Luna’s Jamon, Jamon in 1992 when they starred opposite each other as lusty teens.

They worked together again in 2008 in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona which earned the actress an Oscar for best supporting actress the following year.

Though the couple have kept their romance quiet for years, Mr Bardem got personal when he won a best actor award at Cannes in May for his work in Biutiful by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.

“I share the joy of this prize with my friend, my companion, my love, Penélope Cruz,” remarked Mr Bardem at the time. “I owe you so much, and I love you very much,” Mr Bardem said, drawing tears from Ms Cruz, a longtime muse of Spanish director Pedro Almódovar.

Mr Bardem won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his role as a vicious murderer in the 2007 movie No Country For Old Men, making the pair one of only a handful of Hollywood couples who both won an Academy Award.
