Fifteen licensed mooring men have filed a judicial protest against the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport and the Transport Malta, calling on the authority not to allow third parties to do the work of mooring men without being licensed and without forming part of the mooring men corps.

The mooring men said they had been informed that the government intended to issue a new legal notice that would revoke previous regulations and would allow the duties of mooring men to be carried out by people only authorised by terminal operators. This, the mooring men said, would undermine their rights as licensed mooring men and deprive them of their work.

The mooring men called on the government not to publish its legal notice.
