Rain showers on Sunday forced the postponement of the US Open men’s singles final between world number one Rafael Nadal of Spain and Serbian third seed Novak Djokovic to last night.

The total washout gave Djokovic another day of rest after an exhausting five-set semi-final against Roger Federer on Saturday in his bid to deny Nadal a career Grand Slam sweep.

Both men are seeking their first US Open title.
