A reader who went for a walk around the site of the Gharb fireworks explosion found sackfuls of chemicals used in the manufacture of fireworks in one of the damaged rooms.

The material, he said, was not protected from the rain or other humidity and could be easily reached by anyone. The area is being visited by many curious visitors and he wondered if it has been totally cleared of explosives.

The area, he said, should be closed off until the safety of the existing damaged rooms was assured and until debris was cleared, ensuring that there were no petards buried within. The chemicals, he said, also needed to be removed immediately.
