In a few days’ time Malta will celebrate the 46th anniversary of its independence. Having five national days (a unique country in the world), I appeal for the setting up of a national committee under the chairmanship of the President of Malta tasked with securing a national political consensus on one National Day, a date chosen from Malta’s glorious history. The terms of reference should be simple: While still celebrating our political milestones, the National Day should be the one we celebrate together as one nation in peace, harmony and unity.
