The University Students' Council (KSU) has expressed concern that the current mechanism for the revision of papers is not achieving its purpose, while costs for a revision had doubled.
The current fee is €25 ( without report) and €60 (with report by additional examiner).
The council said such a report was produced in any case for internal evaluation and it therefore saw no reason why students should be charged more than double for having access to it.
"The students' charter prepared in 2005 and approved that same year in Senate, explains that a student should be allowed to see his/her examination paper with the presence of a lecturer. Since the students' charter is not binding, this point is left entirely to the discretion of the lecturer," the KSU said.
"KSU cannot accept a situation where a student is being forced to pay €60 to have access to what is his by right in the first place. The point of such a Revision of Paper is to give students every fair chance of reaping the reward of their hard work."
Furthermore, the council complained, the €60 fee was not refunded even when students' complaints about their marks were found to be justified
The council said it was also concerned that since marks could also be reduced during a revision of papers, students may be discouraged from requesting such a revision.
