Strike in France delays Malta flight for Girona

Passengers on board this morning’s Ryanair flight to Girona, scheduled to leave Malta at 9.25 a.m. are still waiting for the flight to take off.

The passengers were boarded as usual but were told that the aircraft had lost its slot as a result of a strike by air traffic controllers in France.

The airline will now have to wait until it is given another slot before it can leave Malta for its destination.

It is useless to blaim Ryanair!!! As for the strike ...remember that to arrive in Spain, you are entering France airspace; hence air traffic controllers!

Due to the strike in France, the planes departing from Girona could not leave; that is, they had to stay put on the tarmac... then obviously, other planes which were supposed to land and take their 'parking' slot could not lend.

Flight delays happen everywhere and all the time; and for your information, actually Ryanair have quite a decent record for on time arrivals.

With a small deviation, the flight could have avoided French airspace altogether. But that would probably cost a few dollars more....... and they would probably need some extra manpower in their offices to handle the situation.

You pay for what you get! A cheap flight will reflect a cheap service.

I would not be too happy about Ryanair having a " a decent record for on time arrivals" as firstly they fly to secondary airports where a flight does not need to wait for a slot and/or it is much easier to get a slot. Can you possibly compare Luton or Malta airport to Heathrow?! Hence it is much easier for an airline to keep good arrival times... when compared to airlines such as Airmalta who flight to busy airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow.
In addition, if one notices the flying time for Ryanair, it is slightly longer when compared to other airlines... for the same route..strange isn't it! Of course so that it lands before and we can say how efficient and fast they are !
