Mother knows best – at least when it comes to the kitchen, according to a survey in the UK.
Given the choice, 40 per cent of Britons would choose their mother’s home cooking over their partner’s or even a meal cooked by a top chef in a five star restaurant, a poll found.
And men, in particular, appreciate their home comforts, with 29 per cent preferring their mother’s home cooking to their mates and even their football team. And 31 per cent wished their partners cooked more like their mothers, although only 24 per cent would let on.
Top meals were: roast dinner, shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, sausage, chips and beans and a fry up.
The poll of 1,178 British adults was commissioned by Richmond Sausages, which is searching for the nation’s favourite sausage-based recipe by launching an online “the taste that brings them home” competition.
