I remember the Prime Minister, his brother and sister with their doting parents at their summer residence near St Paul's Bay Primary School (where we use to live) for the summer months going back some 50 years plus, they use to live next to the tuck shop then known as tal- landiera. I got to know the father at the morning mass at the parish church where I use to assist as an altar boy. One could not help but notice the sincerity and the genuine smile that he greeted you with on most mornings.

The way they brought up their family should be an example for the rest of the Nation.

A father must have a complete rest one day. The family he leaves behind must not look upon such occasion as a loss, but as allowing a deserving rest to a man who worked so hard for his family. All who knew him can keep him alive through their memories. Memories only will keep him alive.

i would like to thank all of you who have sent messages of condolonces to me and my family.my father is now resting in peace with my mother .He never really got over her death, but now they are back together ,definately in heaven .i will miss you pops .
i would like to thank all the medical staff in Mater Dei especially profs Stephen Montefort and cccu personel who took care of my father , now and on previous occassions .

On behalf of my family including Angele and my mother Alice, I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to our PM ,Dr Lawrence Gonzi and my colleague, Dr Michael Gonzi and all the family on the sad loss of your dear father Louis.
I distinctly remember him at the time I used to serve at the Metabolic Clinic at St Luke's Hospital and Floriana Health Centre. What used to strike me then was his sincerity ,unpretentiousness and genuine respect for all grades of health care workers he used to come across. On one occasion ,when Mr Gonzi was already well over 75,he calmly waited his turn to be seen to , gently refusing to take precedence over a queu of patients and explaining that he had forgotten his Kartanzjan!
As undoubtedly has been the case not many months ago, on the demise of his spouse, Inez , there exist no more comforting words on a day like this than to recall Christ Our Divine Saviour's very own : "Blessed are the meek for they shall see God."
I assure you of our prayers for their eternal repose .

Our deepest sympathy to our Prime Minister and all the Gonzi family. I knew Gigi in the 60s when he used to stop for a chat at 'The Catholic Bookshop' where my fiancee used to work. I hadn't seen him for a very long time but, when I met him some 3 years ago and mentioned the bookshop, he remembered me and my wife. He was such a nice and humble man. May he rest in peace.

I remember Mr Gonzi since I was a child. He and his wife Enez were the perfect parents to bring up their children the way they did. I really know Rev. Sister Margaret and His Excellency the Prime Minister whom we always called Lawrence as they lived two doors away from us. Mr Gonzi as I always called him was a very quiet man. He always sat ouside his mother-in-laws house which was a few doors away from us and although a child I used to admire his patience and his quiet attitude. I haven't seen him for years yet I can picture both him and his wife as very nice people whom I use to admire. May both Mr G and Mrs E Gonzi rest in peace.

All condoliances going to the Gonzi family. I am an owner of a Bar in Bugibba situated exactly infront of GiGi's summer residence. I know Gigi and his family for a very long time and i have to say that they are some of the Neighbours anyone could have. Gigi was always smiling and very often taking my children for walks and swimming and he was always a great man to get advice. Once again i am very sorry for his loss, but i am sure he will find a great place to rest in peace.....Bye GIGI & Thanks x

May I offer my sincere condolences to the Gonzi family. I had known Is-Sur Gig (as my family knew him) since I was a boy as he had been at school (the Gozo Seminary) with my father and his brothers and then later served as Registrar with my late uncle Judge Stephen Borg Cardona. He was a lovely and most humble man and I used to enjoy meeting him in Old Bakery Street where we would talk abour our respective families. May you rest in peace, Sur Gig.

I knew Louis at il- Monti in Valletta where we grew up as good friends.He always showed me
things he bought from Il-Monti as he much dearly appreciated.
