Maltese dancers at top schools

Two students of the Deborah McNamara School of Dance have just been awarded scholarships and will be training at top international dance schools.

Elena Zammit, who has also trained with Deborah McNamara for the past six years, has been offered a place at Northern Ballet School in the UK. She was offered a dance award from the school to cover tuition for the next three years as well as a scholarship from the Malta Arts Council, to help with living expenses.

Bettina Von Brockdorff was granted a full scholarship from the Malta Arts Council to attend the Centro de Baile in Jerez, Spain, for the next two years. Ms Von Brockdorff recently completed her teaching qualification of the Spanish Dance Society Instructor de Baile, Part 1, under Ms McNamara’s tuition.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Roxana Dimech recently returned from a two-week intensive course at the English National Ballet. Ms Dimech was selected out of hundreds of hopeful applicants last March to attend this course.
