Several years ago, the University set up the University of the Third Age (U3E) in an endeavour to provide further education to retired people. Lectures on a range of subjects are delivered during the academic year.

The University charges a fee for this programme which, though nominal, is still the only payment the University receives from its Maltese students attending the whole spectrum of morning courses.

Surely, the University can reconsider this and waive the fee in an effort to attract more senior citizens to the U3E this October. This gesture will undoubtedly be appreciated, especially by those who leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of enhancing their lifelong education.
