Flights KM658 and KM659 of August 19 and 26 respectively each suffered delays of just under two hours!
The first flight to Verona was delayed due to “over-booking”.
The airline was aware of the problem; some offers were given to passengers during check-in to use other routes via Rome or Paris.
No volunteers were found to give up their seats and, instead of solving the problem at the terminal, passengers without seats, an airline official and the crew chose to argue aboard the plane while other travellers waited for take-off.
After almost an hour, the captain had no option but to instruct the passengers to leave the plane until a solution was found.
Once inside the terminal we were told that an official would be giving us further instructions but no one spoke to us at all, leaving groups of families, mostly with young children, without even a glass of water.
The plane took off following a 115-minute delay.
The return flight to Malta was again delayed but this time due to extra luggage that led the passengers, once again, to disem-bark in order to identify their suitcases.
This case, which affected almost the same passengers again, rather made them laugh at this coincidence – double delay with almost the same delay time!
