Three-day marathon starts today in Vittoriosa
Funds in aid of Cash for Cancer
The 15th fishing marathon in aid of Cash for Cancer, organised by Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association (KSFA) with the assistance of Mister Fish, gets underway in Vittoriosa this evening.
The first marathon in the series was held way back in 1994 and since then the KSFA and its members have always kept this appointment in their annual calendar.
The marathon – Doubles Open – sees anglers in teams of two, both fishing near each other and able to assist their partner. Venues and times will differ for each day, making for better and different catches. The format also means competitors will have to adopt different strategies on each day of the tournament.
The marathon will be spread over three days.
After today’s leg in Cottonera (6 to 11 p.m.), competitors will move to Manoel Island (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) tomorrow before the final stage in Bighi on Sunday, starting at 6 a.m.
Various prizes, including cash gifts, vouchers and trophies, will be at stake for the competitors. The presentations night will be held at the Pietà Hotspurs FC premises on September 10.
