Magistrate tells military re-enactor to find job in a month
A former military re-enactor yesterday admitted to stealing €1,000 from offices at Fort Rinella, in Kalkara last month.
Ryan Bartolo, 21, of Senglea, broke into the offices and made off with money he found in cash and charity boxes, police sources said.
Legal aid lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar told the court Mr Bartolo’s girlfriend could pay the money back. However, Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani said she did not want the girlfriend to pay for Mr Bartolo’s mistakes.
The magistrate told Mr Bartolo she was giving him one month to find a job and pay the money back before she hands down judgment.
Mr Bartolo was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 until next month.

Charity starts at home, if it was his first offence, his sentence should be light, how is he going to find work, its a never ending cycle. I say a few years from now he will be caught on a much large charge simply because the state fails to realise that these people need help!

Malta would be a much better place if all court judgements make sense like this one. Prosit.
