Internet, TV and telephone use rise in Q2

Use of the internet, television and telephone has risen with subscriptions increasing again in the second quarter of the year.

With a nine per cent rise in internet connections, the National Statistics Office also noted a shift from dial-up connection to broadband, falling by 86.6 per cent and rising by 10.2 per cent respectively.

Similarly, as television subscriptions rose by 7.8 per cent, digital TV rose by 30.4 per cent while analogue fell by 48.4 per cent.

In the case of mobile subscriptions, which rose by 8.7 per cent, both post- and pre-paid schemes increased by 15.4 and 7.2 per cent respectively.

Fixed-line connections also rose by 0.6 per cent.
