Complaints should be reported
This is a follow-up to my letter published on July 26.
My wife and I want to thank Ernest Tonna, the chief officer, enforcement directorate, at the transport authority for taking his time to investigate our complaint and to arrange a meeting to confront the driver to reiterate the complaint. The driver, as expected, denied the incident but when Mr Tonna was questioning him he realised his statements were not convincing. He took out a €10 note, tried to give it to us and apologised. We did not accept the money and told the driver it was not a matter of money but a matter of principal. We all shook hands, the driver apologised one more time to both myself and my wife and we asked for the driver not to be suspended.
We hope that when people have complaints about public transport drivers they report the incident to the proper authorities to follow through. Writing in newspapers does not solve the problem.

Writing in the paper does not always solve the problem but its sure to shame them publicly, which at times is all the more satisfactory than having to stay running after them for an apology. Don't underestimate the power of the pen!

John, so you expect me to go to the Malta branch office (since there's no such office in Gozo) to report a driver that demanded a straight 50c (misbehaved or anything)?
If I were to live in Malta, the sheer transport to/from their office is already overpriced compared to the results.
