Ehe, ghalhekk isiru atti krimniali bhal dan... U hallina tridx, min irid jasal fil-hajja jasal, dawn ikunu nies li jridu jdawru lira u ma jkunu jridu jaghmlu xejn. Ma jfissirx ghax ma taqlax paga bizejjed tmur taghmel hold up. Qabel kien hawn iktar faqar, in-nies kienu veru jisirqu biex jghixu. Ma taghmilx din li qed tghid.

Very primitive thinking indeed Ms. Zammit.

The guy who committeed the robbery has broken the rules of the state and those of the Church (if he is Catholic after all). The state should see to it that he gets the right punishment for breaking the laws of the state and the Church can interdict him if it likes. The (state) law is equal for all and should remain so whether the criminal is catholic, muslim or of any other religion. This mixing up of Church and State is only doing harm to the pathetic situation the country is already in.

If you would like to live in a Church controlled state, please go to the Vatican.

As to your enlightened idea of public trashings, it may be a good idea. One day a man said that he wanted a Switzerland in the Mediterranean. You seem to want an Iran in the Mediterranean. Could be a tourist attraction you never know....

Maria you claim you are Catholic in your first sentence, but then you end your comment by suggesting public Thrashing (I assume you mean Thrashing as otherwise you would be suggesting to have the criminals thrown into the public skips !!!) What the courts should introduce is Tagging, whereby any person who has been let out of Prison on Parole or is handed a suspended sentence is Electronically Tagged and his movements and whereabouts are known to the police at all times. This system has worked very well in the UK and the US and it does stop criminals breaking the law knowing that they are being monitored 24/7

Maria Zammit your reasoning is totally the opposite Maria. Foreigners should get triple punishment and deported after serving their sentence. While we have to lump Maltese criminals we don't have to lump foreign ones.

Keeping them in jail costs money, better kick them out of the country first and make sure they never come back.

If they are foreigners deport them ? Why jump to such conclusions straight away, are Maltese not capable of such crimes ? Not so long ago there were Malteseover here in London running all kinds or organised crimes whose numbers far outweigh the crime you experience in Malta from foreigners. Put your brain in gear before you blurt out such comments.
