Cash stolen in Paola hold-up

A shopkeeper at a toyshop in Paola was held up by a person wielding a knife and robbed of a few hundred euros last night.

The hold-up took place at about 6.45 p.m. in Triq Ħal Saflieni.

A man, who had his face covered with a handkerchief, barged into the shop and demanded the money, threatening the shopkeeper with the knife.

He then fled in a car with another two accomplices, who, police sources said, were waiting outside.

Not more than €500 were stolen.

The men were described by eyewitnesses as thin and short. Police investigations are still underway.
