Not long ago a letter appeared in this newspaper about allowing dogs on our beaches.

My opinion is that it is bad enough with our pavements; shall we have the same mess on our shores? A typical example is in Marsascala at the salt pans where a number of salt pans are littered with dog excrement. Mind you, barbecues are prohibited in this area.

Does this issue fall under the responsibility of our health authorities or the local council? Or has the situation been accepted?
