Obituary
TAYLOR-EAST. On August 30, at home in Sliema, LEA née Vassallo, aged 82, passed away peacefully comforted by the rights of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband Joseph, her children Hu and his wife Claudia, Phillip and his wife Rita, Miriam and Joe, Yasmin and her husband Adrian Borg, her grandchildren Nicola and David, Alexia and James, Robert and Sasha, Philippa, Maria-Christina and Michael, Jonathan and Erika, Joseph, Andrea and Francesca and her great-grandson Harry. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Bianca Camilleri Vassallo and her husband Lino, Milo and his wife Rita, Franco and Irene, nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8:30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
MIRUZZI. On August 30, at Mater dei Hospital, AGNES, aged 65. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother Violet, her sisters Rebecca and Isabelle, her brother David and his wife Josephine, nephews and nieces in Australia, her uncles and aunts, many cousins and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa where a Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
VELLA. On August 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO, residing at Naxxar, passed away peacefully at the age of 79, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Giuseppa and his two daughters and their husbands, his grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. for Naxxar parish church where Mass will be said at 4 p.m. followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Sliema Bazaar
A bazaar is being held next door to Stella Maris parish, 49, Cathedral Street, Sliema. Open tomorrow and Thursday from 9.30 a.m. onwards.
Fundraising exhibition
A total of €1,800 was collected in aid of Amputees for Amputees (A4A) during a boxing exhibition and barbecue organised by the I And J Fitness Team, boxing instructors and trainers, on August 20.
A4A, in Mosta, is an association founded in October 2008 with the aim of supporting amputees and their families through education and advocacy.
The money will be used to print and design information leaflets and to provide transport for members to attend monthly meetings and activities.
Historical re-enactment
A historical re-enactment of the fall of Mdina and the massacre of the French garrison will be put on by the Historical Re-Enactment Group of Malta and the local council on Friday at 7.30 p.m. For more information call Martin Degiorgio on 9949 9805 or send an e-mail to martindegiorgio@hotmail.com.
Mass for Guido de Marco
Mass will offered for the repose of President Emeritus Guido de Marco’s soul by the Old Aloysians Associations on Friday at 7.30 p.m. at St Aloysius College, Birkirkara.
Lyceum Past Students’ Mass
Mass will be held by the Association of Lyceum Past Students on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. at Saint Anne Chapel, Pwales.
Dialects festival

Sunset walk
A sunset walk will be held by the Malta Geographical Society on September 14. Those wishing to take part are to meet at 6 p.m. at the Red Tower in Mellieħa.
