Price of gas up as from tomorrow
The price of a 10 kilogramme gas cylinder will go up 20c as from tomorrow, Liquigas Malta Ltd said.
It said in a statement that the 12 and 15 kilogramme cylinders will go up 30c and the 25 kilogramme cylinder 50c.
The adjustment, it said, was the result of the monthly review according to Malta Resources Authority’s methodology.

Well, enjoy the price hike, "the serhan il-mohh" slogan comes later when the elections are in full swing! By the way Net News called this price hike "aggustament tal- prezzijiet".

When government sees that people find another method to invest and save money, don't be too stupid thinking that he will let you do it. The Government's mission has always been that to destroy our pockets. I suggest that government should stop paying us for working and instead take all our earnings directly. At the end of the day that's what he does, he nibbles bit by bit all our remaining earnings after already deducting hgih NI (which we pay for nothing since we won't get a pension) and FSS (which is robbery out of our pockets for nothing).
Adding petrol, electricity and water, VAT, eco tax and gas remains a misery of income with which a human has to do everything else. A big prosit to Gonzi. You should save your face and resign instead, it would be better par idejn sodi. And by the way I am not a fan of PL neither so don't begin accusing me. I call this country a hell of thiefs.

Meta kien hawn numru kbir ta karozzi diesel il-prezz trad-diesel ghola u gie f'sitwazzjoni li ahjar terga tixtri karozza petrol. Jekk qed jigri bil-gas, ghax hafna nies bdew juzaw il-gas ghal geysers u cookers, issa qed joghla il-gas sabiex inti tinvesti terga fid-dawl. Il-problema hija li t-tnejn huma f'bahar wiehed dan il-mument. Min-naha il-gas f'idu minghand il-gvern irrid igib l-ispejjes minn fuqek u fuqi. Dan ma jaghtix kaz ghax jerbah min jerbah il-kuntrattur xorta wahda jaghmel li jrid.

I think we are missing one major point here, i live and work next to the gas depot in Qajjenza, since the recent changes in gas prices, ie a raise, a reduction and now another rise i'm sure there has only been one gas ship delivery! can someone from the new company explain these drastic price alterations?

gonzi PN comming from the UK and a life long labour supporter but not any more i thought and still do think that blair was a complete tosser but you are rapidly matching him im afraid to say so i will not be swayed to put my vote towards your party stop letting your people of malta down get your finger out and your thinking cap on, you can sit back swelling your chest as to what has been accomplished recently but most of that came from EU funds so stop taxing your people to the point they wont be able to afford the shoe leather it will take to walk to the polling stations in the next elections, you failed to tell your people that once they are in the EU that gas electric fuel will raise not less than three times but no more than five times a year, have you also failed to warn them that they will be charged for garbage collections followed by household rates the latter known as council tax being charged as to the size of plot they live on and that does not include garages which will be charged seperately (dare you)

We are fortunate in this country to have mild winters and heating our homes is not a major problem, or is it? Notwithstanding we pay a big chunk of our disposable income in gas and electricity bills, even if we cannot say we have cosy and warm houses like those of our European friends in winter. I sometimes wonder......had Malta been situated in a cooler region like most other European countries, would we have to die of hypothermia to avoid spending all our income?

we don't have an annual budget but a daily one because the taxes and increase in prices not mentioned in october/november creep upon us little by little on a weekly basis.......Only wages go up once a year!....think i'll focus on beans and start my own bio-gas!

@Victor Pulis. So Liquigas said “that distributors are not authorised to charge over and above the mentioned rates”. However, nothing is mentioned regarding the charge to consumers who live in apartments. I live in a first floor apartment and was charged an extra Euro1.10 while those living above mine were charged more. The Gas division informed me that the distributors are now self employed and can charge as much as they liked. I suggest that an agreement be reached on a common charge for the provision of this service to reflect a fair deal for both customer/distributor according to the floor one lives in. This is a monopoly situation and the consumer has no choice.

This is the price the poor consumers have to pay because of the so called privitisation of Enemalta's gas divsion. From a goverment's monopoly to another but this time in the hand of private shareholders. Why is it that I am not surprised that Malta Resources Authority have signalled the green light to yet another increase. If the price of the gas cylinders continue going up this way they will not be affordable anymore to a lot of consumers. What effect will this have on the indusrty and sole traders? Have we lost our social conscious? Where are the protectors of the poor consumers. Have they hibernated?

I would like to add that ADDITIONAL to these scandalous price hikes, Liquigas distributors can now freely charge what they like to carry a gas cylinder up a flight of stairs. Yesterday an aged acquaintance of mine was literally forced to pay an extra 2 euros for his cylinder to be carried up 20 or so steps, and the gas-man demanded the old man carry his own empty cylinder downstairs. The situation now is that if your gas-man requests 10 or 20 euros to carry your cylinder up the stairs you either have to pay up, or remain without gas!!!!!! I have never, ever heard of anything more dishonest and disgraceful. It is simply blackmail to which Liquigas is a willing party. Pleading that such distributors are "self-employed" and "independent" is not a justification. They should be awarded a distribution sub-contract based on a fixed carriage tariff. On top of all this, such distributors have no idea of "customer service" but are generally rude and arrogant bullies whose main function seems to be that of making themselves as awkward as possible.

Who isn't all gassed up with excitement and exoneration at these increases we keep getting? I like the way Liquigas Malta Ltd is mentioned as responsible for the price increase and not some chap so full of natural gas that must be bursting with anticipation of the applause and appreciation at such a move from the Maltese Consumer. Re the article earlier on this summer about gas prices going down, I had commented that I hoped the reduction would not just be during the summer but also during the winter season when the gas cylinders are much more requested by people for gas heaters. I had also said, though, that I was very sceptic about my hopes being true. Seems I knew too well.
