Some 60 athletes yesterday braved the heat for the Hellfire Triathlon Challenge, held in aid of Inspire, the Foundation for Inclusion, which helps children and adults with learning and physical disabilities. The gruelling race entailed a one-kilometre swim, a 20-kilometre bike ride and a 10-kilometre run over the tough terrain between Majjistral Park and Ġnejna. The event is a prelude to the International XTerra 2011 event to be held in Malta. The event normally attracts 2,500 visitors, including 1,000 athletes.
