5,000 delegates in Malta for conference
The mega Oriflame conference, the biggest ever to be held in Malta, started today.
The first session of the conference, which has seen the arrival of 5,000 delegates, was this morning held at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre at Ta' Qali.
A huge, state of the art stage has been set up on the Granaries in Floriana to be used for the conference.
Paul Selis from On Site Malta, the destinations management company responsible for the handling of the conference, said:
“This large conference is an important milestone is this business segment because it proves that a small island like Malta can handle large conferences.”

No wonder that lipstick costs more than silver!
But at least Malta is getting a share of the profits, (hehehehehe).
We're laughing all the way to the bank...

Congratulations to the all Malta for giving us a good name: MTA, Onsite Malta, the hotels who hosted the delegates, drivers, coordinators, air lines, etc
It shows that we can all pull on one rope if we want to. This is what we need.
Encore une fois.

A big well done Paul!
Having worked alongside you when you were secretary of the SPCA your organizational capabilities were always evident.
It is no surprise that you managed to secure this 'coupe' and organize such a massive undertaking. Maltese entrepreneurs should be grateful to you for having brought them loads of business and helping out our economy. It is a great pity that the weather is not on your side!
PROSIT!

And to continue on what Mr. Debono just stated, I have been refused to book and pay a whole week in a bungalow for me and my family in GOZO, because the reservations manager of this small complex told me " The first preference is given to foreigners..what is left will be given to the Maltese" i hope that the foreigners who booked instead of me spent the same amount of money I psent in Gozo.. This is the last time I will go to spend my money in GOZO..if you don't want us maltese, we will not come, and please don't make it too obvious!!

E. Galea. Gozo doesn't seem to want maltese people going there. Its a dead place. With almost the same amount of money you spend to go to gozo, you can go to barcelona, or milano....

This is a proof of what we have been insisting for the past 12 years, that the fashion & beauty sector are a big potential for Malta. The biggest conference ever organised in Malta, had to be that of a cosmetic company. Well done On Site Malta for this achievement, and also well done to those involved to make this happen, showing that our island got what it takes to organise such events no matter how big they are.

This event had indeed proven what great potential Malta has in this regard. May this Oriflame conference prove a success and provide a benchmark for future events of similar scale.
Well done to Mr. Paul Selis of On Site Malta and to all the other people and organisations which made this event possible.

Congratulations to all people involved. Are you going to show them Eco Gozo ? The clean and very tidy Gozo ? The controlled building development of Gozo ? The beautifull roads of Gozo all with tarmac ? The free flowing traffic ?

Conferencing is a highly competitive and sensitive market. MTA should be doing much more to attract such a business to Malta.

Hope the weather will be clement with those taking part on the granaries and do not start to protest. The weather has to be taken into account. Anyhow this is a private intiative and not a P.N. government. Were it so it would be full of intrigue. At least private initiative has its own reputation to take care of. Most probably some one from the P.N. Government will try to dip his finger in the pie and attribute to himself some honour. A remark: not any open space is suitable for certain functions. Pity the Open theatre at Valletta is not large enough.

This is a very good project to undergo. This surely leaves a positive output in the future to come. Malta will be placed in a brighter perspective. We should embarke on similar projects to make Malta more known. Keep it up.
