Young Maltese dancers in the UK

Three young Maltese dancers recently completed a Cecchetti Junior Summer Dance Course in Tring, UK.

Emma Buttigieg, Whitney Aquilina and Mattea Cassar are classical ballet students at the College of Jazz Dance, home of the Yada Dance Company.

The course was organised by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, which is responsible for all Cecchetti method teaching in classical ballet worldwide.

Apart from classical ballet, the students were treated to classes in jazz, Spanish dance and Irish dance.

All participants took part in a dance competition at the end of the course. The three Maltese dancers entered in the ‘trios’ category and placed second with their choreography entitled ‘Merry Mix’.

The students have been training under the tuition of Nina Winter, head of the ballet faculty at the College of Jazz Dance, and Audrey Ellul Sullivan.

New classes in classical ballet, jazz dance, hip-hop, Spanish dance and flamenco will start on September 22.
