The Open Water Swimming Challenge in aid of Inspire was organised last weekend by the Birkirkara St Joseph Sports Club.

Davina Mangion placed first in the inaugural 11-kilometre Malta-Gozo-Malta race, clocking in at two hours, 45 minutes and 48 seconds. Robert Vella and Suzanne Farrugia won the Gozo-Malta swim.

Inspire aims to promote healthy living among the local community through organised sports activities, while offering a challenge for those who like to push themselves and reach a goal. This will allow Inspire to reach its goal of further enhancing the quality of life of thousands of disabled people through a range of professional services, including therapeutic, educational, recreational and inclusive programmes.

Swimmers raised funds by asking family members, partners and colleagues to support their efforts by committing to donate to Inspire. Donations can still be made by texting ‘Gozo-Malta’ to 5061 8926 for €6.99 or 5061 9215 for €11.65.
