Construction work on the new €14 million brewhouse project has now started as planned, Farsons has said.

This project phase consists of a new brewhouse, new malt storage facilities, new quality control laboratories, offices for the technical staff and a new water treatment plant.

The commissioning of the brewhouse is planned for 2012 while the water treatment plant will be operational the following year.

This is the third and final phase of a total of €40 million investment in a new soft drinks plant, a new logistics centre and, now, a new brewhouse with ancillary buildings and facilities. The first two projects started in 2005 and were completed in 2007.

Like the previous two projects, the current brewhouse project will be implemented by a project team consisting of members of the company’s management team headed by Farsons’ chief projects officer Paul Micallef, and assisted by consultants.

Architecture Project prepared the architectural plans and layouts for the brewhouse building.

While general construction works will be carried out by Attard Bros, Mediterranean Technical Services Ltd are delivering the designs for the mechanical and electrical engineering systems, and Resolve Consulting are responsible for fire, health and safety systems.
