An accreditation system is being developed to train individuals in health and safety so they could then forward their advice on the subject to employers.

The project, partly financed by the EU, is being run by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority.

The proposed system shall involve drawing up criteria to assess and accredit people competent in health and safety and then offer their advice to employers.

As the law stands, the duty to designate competent people in the matter rests on employers.
