Gibson 'domestic violence' file handed to prosecutors

US detectives gave prosecutors the results of their investigation into domestic violence allegations against Mel Gibson.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said the results were turned over for a decision on whether charges will be filed.

Detectives investigated claims made against the Academy Award-winner by his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Gibson spokesman Alan Nierob declined comment in an e-mail message.

Detectives also were examining claims by Gibson that Ms Grigorieva attempted to extort him. Mr Whitmore said that investigation has not been completed.
