Forthcoming EU-related activities

September 7 – 9, European industrial technologies conference, Brussels.

This conference will focus on the need for innovation within European industry as well as the major obstacles which are often encountered. It will also explore the future perspectives in newly developed manufacturing technologies, materials and nanotechnologies. Finally, the social, environmental sustainability and competitiveness perspectives of the European manufacturing sector will be examined. Participants are expected to come from industry, research organisations, universities and policy entities. There will also be chances to meet and discuss possibilities and proposals for cooperation and improved integration in the near future.

September 9, Info day on the FP7-SEC-2011-1 Security Research Call, Brussels.

Security-related research is an important building block for supporting European freedom, security and justice. It also contributes to developing technologies and capabilities in support of other European Community policy areas such as transport, civil protection, energy, environment and health. The event is designed to inform participants about proposals, as well as to provide information on legal and procedural conditions. Attendants will also have the opportunity to network, present their ideas and find potential research partners. This specific call is open to research institutions, universities, industries, SMEs, civil society organisations and any security stakeholders.

September 12 – 14, Fifth Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems, Tel-Aviv.

This three-day conference will bring together experts, practitioners, policy-makers, and academics from the Mediterranean region working or interested in information systems (IS). A wide variety of topics will be covered at the event, including B2B electronic services and inter-organisational systems, cloud infrastructures and interoperability in the public sector, cross-cultural issues in IS, cultural tourism and heritage, digital divide and e-government as well as open source software in the Mediterranean region.

September 14 – 15, Integrating Innovation and Investment - Ambient Assisted Living Investment Forum 2010, Odense, Denmark.

Ambient Assisted Living products and services are ICT-based solutions, such as in-home monitoring devices or telemedicine systems, which help seniors remain independent, active and socially connected for a longer time. The Ambient Assisted Living Forum 2010 will be preceded by an Investment Forum. It aims to stimulate more innovation and investment in AAL by bringing together innovative ICT enterprises in the Ageing Well market with potential public and private investors.
