The Kaccaturi San Ubertu has unreservedly condemned the vandalistic act at the Natura 2000 site by three young hunters.

The hunters yesterday pleaded guilty to vandalising 104 trees last April.

The organisation said that none of the three hunters were its members.

It congratulated the police and the court for their work, and augured that such a senseless criminal act would never be repeated.

“Together with our partner the Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FKNK), we believe that hunting issues should be resolved by the involvement of all parties concerned through democratic means around a negotiating table.

“Unfortunately certain malicious actions by fanatics from both sides of the fence prevent such dialogue being possible and only lead to more animosity,” it said.
