NFL games are back on Melita TV
Further to recent correspondence in this newspaper on the broadcasting of National Football League (NFL) games, Melita is happy to announce that the season has once again kicked off on ESPN America, with live broadcasts of the pre-season games now available exclusively on Melita’s TV packages.
After the broadcast of all pre-season games in August, Melita subscribers can continue to follow the action of the season on ESPN America throughout September.
Earlier this year, ESPN America confirmed another four seasons of NFL coverage, with over 100 live and as-live games per season, including playoffs. Melita subscribers will also have access to live coverage of the regular season, play-offs, Super Bowl, Pro Bowl and the NFL Draft, with game coverage totalling five to 10 hours per week.

First good news from Melita for a long time for sports lovers who are not mainly soccer fans.
American football is a fascinating strategic ball game albeit a bit violent once you master the rules a bit violent. Let us now wait and hope for some further good news such as tennis tournaments, rugby and golf play matches.

'NFL games are back on Melita TV'
Wow!!!...........Big Deal!
I believe ESPN America is only available on Melita's XL package, which is the most expensive of their 3-tiered package system, charged at €29.99 monthly. That does NOT include their add-on Sports Package, which costs a further €9.99 monthly, in spite of Melita no longer having the rights to the English and Italian football leagues, the major reasons behind anyone subscribing to the package in the first place! Thanks but no thanks Melita.
I do pity Malcolm Briffa who, with this letter, has offered himself up for such criticism. With 'head of PR' included in his job title with Melita, he surely has one of the toughest jobs around!

Well that should keep about half a dozen people happy then. Will there be an extra charge for this free-to-air channel?
How about something for the rest of us? Maybe some more of the channels that you get in the UK - FOR FREE and which Melita charge extra for.
How about less repeats? - oh wait, that would cost more money.
How about subtitles on the discovery channels when during an english language programme, someone speaks in a different language?
How about less channel freezes? (when the programme suddenly stops for no reason) - oh wait fixing the onfrastructure would cost money.
How about simply improving? Oh wait, I know, the money thing again right?
Stop taking us for a ride Melita.
